Poppies

Haven't done flowers for while so have a look at these poppies

Atmospheric

The theme at Cawood art group was atmospheric so thought I would do threatening sky, don't know if I did it properly but have look anyway

Landscape

To follow on from purple snow I thought I would have to it without snow and autumnal scene instead

Purple snow

Got a bit fed up doing figures and horses so decided to try a snowy landscape in acrylics on a bit of scrap mount board . Still practicing

Horse again

This is my first attempt with acrylics. I will have to persevere as it's completely different from my favourite watercolour. Practice makes perfect so they say

Re horse

Seeing as I had my stuff out in the conservatory (paints)! I thought I would give one race horse a try.
11 x 7 white night watercolour paints (Russian) on bockingford 200lb paper (I prefer this one)

I wish I could do feet

Race horses

The last horse race was 7 x 5 so I've tried a larger version without the pen 11 x 7 used white nights watercolours on blocking ford 200 lb is it any better ?

Sunday 20 October 2013

Another go at racehorses

Hand to try another pen and wash horse race I will get it right one day

Tuesday 8 October 2013

Pen and wash rose

Had to have a go at a rose using pen and wash , not happy with it yet. Must try harder

Playing bowls

Thought I would have another go at figures so tried this bowls match

Monday 7 October 2013

Pen and inktense wash

I thought I would have another go at sunflowers but this time using pen and inktense. I used the inktense the same way as I would use watercolour. Maybe I should have put in a bit more darks but I thought it would spoil it, but I will give it another go latter

Sunflowers

Thought I would try out some derwent colour soft pencils and attempted this picture of sunflowers.
Still a lot to do but it is the same with watercolours the more you overlay you end up with muddy colours. I still have to master the blending of colours. I think I was a bit heavy handed to start with so making it harder to overlay.what do you think

Pen and wash boat yard

I was looking through some old leisure painters when I came across an article on pen and wash so I thought I would give it a go and attempted this one of an old boat yard. First attempt might have another go at it at a later date

Cricket match

I know, I should have been blogging but been very busy doing other things. When we went to Carlton art group a few weeks ago I was at a loss for inspiration when Karl said paint this and produced a cutting from the Selby post of a local cricket match . I have never painted figures so I thought why not give it a go and this is the result. I know it isn't perfect but I wanted to see if I could give the figures movement

Ron's first post

Hi all who know me, I have succumbed to blog my paintings after nagging from friends and family. I have been a keen watercolourist since 1997 after watching the TV series "A BRUSH WITH ASHLEY" and thought that looks quite easy (wrong) and now think I have nearly mastered the medium. My first post is a snow scene . I will post some more soon hopefully better quality photograph.
This is my retirement hobby and I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy painting them.
